HYBRID OFFICE DESIGN
HYBRID OFFICE DESIGN

A significant change has occurred in the business world and working life during the last 20 years. This change that is visible to naked eyes and that feeds on daily life has actually just begun. The business models and working areas designated by the big companies at the beginning of the millennium have been replaced by the new generation working areas, where the borders are disappearing, the social areas are getting expanded, and business culture is arising, particularly during the last five years. These working areas that are productive, ideal and social are featured with the technological infrastructures and flexible office solutions. The name of this system that supports both home working and office working is: hybrid working. These hybrid offices that are particularly sought after by small and medium-sized companies have started to attract the attention of global companies with the effect of the pandemic within the last two years. These offices where a hybrid working concept is applied provide conveniences to employees in different areas thanks to both the functionality and co-working office space designs.

Productive Worker, Productive Work

Employee profiles vary depending on each new generation. Therefore, the offices are shaped by the needs of each new generation that starts to be employed. According to research by McKinsey & Company, those in generation Z want to work 3 days at home but spend the remaining 2 days at the office. That means digitalization has started, but companies still need a physical environment. Data-oriented solutions based on artificial intelligence reinforces teamwork. And flexible de-signs step in at this point. The areas of usage are designed as comfortable, harmonious and living places thanks to digital solutions.

Today and Future of the New Generation High-End Office Design

Due to the pandemic and the habits that change after that, many companies have preferred to call the employees to be present at the office for two days at maximum, which started a new age for hybrid offices. At the offices, where a hybrid working environment has been present, eliminating the borders, collective areas are created rather than personal spaces. Since the desks, which are the first thing to come to mind at an office, are not extensively used as they were in the past, they are now designed to open to a group of employees. Narrow and high desks encourage the rotation of usage. These desks have no drawers; employees do not keep their personal belongings at the office, and thus there are no more personal objects on the desks in this new order. As the old concept of the office is becoming history, a new system is appearing, where the sense of belonging is diminishing, and the personalization is becoming almost zero. Since employees do not spend their time at the office as they did in the past, now only the critical areas are used. As the number of private rooms is gradually decreasing, these rooms are converted to meeting rooms and places used for networking. Therefore, sound-proofing materials have started to be used efficiently in co-working office designs during recent years. The offices, which support the hybrid system that seizes the moment and can address the customers’ requirements within the shortest time possible, are adaptable to future changes in terms of design. Due to their characteristics of agile working that is energetic and eliminating the stereotypes and titles, some assumes that the offices will become a more established culture in the future…
